Description
Often referred to as Savannah's Rails 2 Trails, McQueen’s Trail is just over six gently meandering miles of shell and crushed rock bordered by towering palm trees and native plants. Built on the footprint of the old Savannah & Atlantic Railroad tracks that transported beachgoers to Tybee Island before the construction of Highway 80, McQueen’s Trail boasts endless expansive views of salt marsh, tidal waters, and native wildlife.
Motorized vehicles are not permitted, but the long, level trail is a local favorite for walking, running, and bicycling. After storm damage necessitated a temporary closure, recent improvements to the trail bed and to the wooden bridges crossing the marshes have restored this sunny, salty venue once again to popular use.
Bring your dogs or your kids, bring your biking buddies or your cross-country running team, bring your fishing poles or your crab nets, bring your camera or your paint box – McQueen’s Trail is open for you to enjoy! And remember, it’s open to the sky the entire distance, so maybe bring a hat and definitely bring some water, too.
Know before you go:
Trail is accessed only at the eastern end, at the entrance to Fort Pulaski National Monument.
There is no fee for parking or to use McQueen’s Trail.

Dogs ARE allowed to accompany owners on the trail, but dogs must at all times remain on leashes no longer than six feet in length.
The trail has no artificial lighting and is open during daylight hours only.
