Park Ranger

About Park Ranger Brent Newman:

Born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, Brent Newman was raised in a family of shrimpers. He spent his youth outdoors, hunting, fishing, swimming, and boating, developing a deep love and appreciation for the outdoors.

He receiving a History and a Master’s degree in Historical Administration and Public History with a focus in Museum Studies from Florida State University, and he spent over a decade researching and presenting the history of the southeastern United States and its diverse inhabitants to the public.

Brent has worked at the Tallahassee Museum, Mission San Luis, Mound House, and Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Seminole Museum. Before moving to Savannah, he was the Chief Curator at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates.

Whitemarsh Nature Preserve
68 Johnny Mercer Boulevard, Savannah, GA 31410
Ranger Brent will lead a walk through Whitemarsh Nature Preserve. The walk will take place on a grass path that is occasionally rough, so please wear sturdy footwear and bring your binoculars. The walk will last about 1 hour.

Ranger Brent will lead a walk around Frank O. Williamson Lake. Keep an eye out for a variety of feathered friends along the way. The walk will take place on a grass path that is occasionally rough, so please wear sturdy footwear and bring your binoculars. The walk will last about 1.5 hours.

Al Bungard Preserve

Watch the sunset and moonrise while walking around the lake at Al Bungard Preserve. The walk will last about 1 hour. Participants must reserve a spot by emailing brenewman@ChathamCounty.org.
