L. Scott Stell

Scott Stell Community Park is a multi-featured park located at 195 Scott Stell Road, just off of Little Neck Road on the west side of Chatham County. There is ample and convenient free parking throughout the park.

The park’s Jim Golden Sports Complex, boasting multiple ball fields, complete with dugouts, bleachers, restrooms and concessions building, is active with youth sports leagues for baseball/t-ball, kickball, soccer, and flag football during warm weather. L. Scott Stell also has multiple courts for tennis and basketball, available without reservation for pickup games or for tennis lessons.

Central to the park is a large fresh water lake, stocked with bass and bream for fishing during daylight hours. A paved one mile walking path and exercise course surrounds the lake, also providing access for fishing from multiple points around the lake.  A boat ramp enables small, non-gaspowered craft access to put out onto the water for deeper fishing. 

One unique feature of L. Scott Stell Park is the 32-plot community garden, freely available to be reserved for private crops. Another is the archery range and the wooded archery course set into the pines at the rear of the park.  Across small bridges, a secluded area with pavilions also has a volleyball net, an open play area for dogs, a small playground, and restrooms.

Hours: 7 days a week – Park 8am-9pm, Pavilion & Conference Room 10am-8pm

Pet Policy: Pets not allowed in park buildings, on athletic fields or courts.  Dogs are allowed in designated area and must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet if others are in the area.  Owners must clean up after their dogs and must not leave dogs unattended at any time in vehicles or elsewhere in the park.

Service Animals: Allowed when serving in a working capacity in accordance with the Revised Americans with Disabilities Act Service Animal Requirements.
